[Movies] Brian Cox May Join The Cast Of The Hobbit
Posted by Larry Csonka on 11.16.2009

According to Aintitcool.com, Brian Cox (X2) is considered a major contender to play one of the thirteen dwarves who join Bilbo on his quest in The Hobbit. While it is not known what role he would play, most feel that he is being lined up for the role of dwarf leader Thorin Oakenshield. The Hobbit is set to come out in 2011.

not to be a nerd or anything but how exactly is Thorin's character in the Hobbit bumbling?

If my memory serves he was a fearless leader and the biggest baddass of the group, granted he still got captured along with the others each time but i'm pretty sure i remember him being a confident strong leader. Not a bumbling fool as you have just labeled him.

When I read the heading, I thought maybe he would be the voice of Smaug.

He'd be a fantastic choice for Thorin. Thorin's the most prominent and complex of the dwarves, so it would be silly not to use Cox's talent in such a role.
